Jon Charles's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to Eastern New Mexico University where I joined Sigma Chi Fraternity and proceeded to party my way out of college. For several years I had a career in broadcasting, working at radio stations in Kansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Mexico.
I joined the military and was trained as a public affairs specialist. Because of my broadcasting background and my public speaking ability I was given an opportunity to give briefings to high level officials, conduct tours as well as being a journalist. I finished my military term as an editor of a 15,000 circulation newspaper at Fort Gordon, Ga. I returned to school and studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at New Mexico State University, earning my degree in 1997. After graduation I worked at Walt Disney World and as a warehouse manager for the Ripley's Believe It or Not Museums.

ol in Japan, I decided to accept.
I taught conversational English at a couple of commercial schools in Japan. They were fun jobs and I enjoy them very much. I worked at a school in Chigasaki/Hiratsuka area for three years. Then I worked for two and a half years at a school in Tsukuba, a city about 60 Km north west of Tokyo where the Japanese government has many of their research facilities. I earned my TESOL Certification and taught ESL in Beijing, China from 2008 to 2019 before moving to Suzhou City in October of 2019. I taught adults for a while, but for the last several years I have been teaching kids. Here in Suzhou City. I am now married to a Chinese woman we have a small school called Uncle Jon English that is doing fairly well. I do have to keep my nose clean here as I am always watched..lol . But I do miss good ol' Alamo... I'd like to go back, but I have too much invested here... But love the kiddies..
